Grandmothers

I cannot last another day without telling my wonderful news
I am lucky enough to be getting my 2nd Grandchild
in late November!

I still remember the birth of my precious "L".
the seemingly endless hours before they decided on a ceasarian to help him out of his safe cocoon and into our world.
I thought I had spent enough time telling him about the trees,
his home, sights and sounds he could explore
but most of all about his Mum.
Or maybe it was too much!
Affectionately only known then as CP (Christmas Pudding shaped bump at Christmas)
I still chatted in the delivery suite
but the time was taken up with explaining why his Mummy
had a sore throat, what a cough lolly was and why she could not have one.
Then I had to tell him that begging was not a good look on his otherwise very pretty Mum.

just a blip so far
So from a few blips on a
machine to  the little bundle that stole my heart
and
instantly I was really a Grandma.

Henry Youngman said it right when he stated "If I had known how wonderful it would be to have grand-children, I'd have had them first."
(not sure about that)

keeping an eye on him
and one I firmly believe is

Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little
children. ~Joy Hargrove

So now I am looking forward to another bundle to cherish and to explain why "L" is getting a baby brother or sister and the puppy has to wait.
Things were so much easier before he had his first camel ride, train ride, plane trip, bus excursion, swim with the sharks.
Even before swimming lessons, tennis coaching and now soccer.
So I will try a helicopter ride this time maybe.
Have you heard the saying
"When grandparents enter the door, discipline flies out the window"
well that's me all right!
(I just have to do it in big doses to make up for the distance in kilometres)

Grandmother-grandchild relationships are simple.
Grandmas are short on criticism and long on love.
Grandmas are mums with lots of frosting.
Grandparents are similar to a piece of string - handy to
have around and easily wrapped around the fingers of their
grandchildren.
Grandmothers are just antique little girls.
It's amazing how grandparents seem so young once you become one.
A grandparent is old on the outside but young on the inside.
Grandmas never run out of hugs or cookies
Grandmas hold our tiny hands (and feet)for
just a little while, but our hearts forever

So I eagerly await the precious bundle to come and pray for a safe entrance and a wonderful, meaningful life.

What a wonderful time for you - a special time to welcome a new piece of creation it is really the only time you get to take part in making a miracle. You did this when you had your daughter and now she makes another miracle.

Boy or girl this little one will be blessed with love and joy - encouraged to laugh, play and sing his or her way through the world and to protect the world they live in.

I share the joy you feel and hope the pregnancy goes well and the delivery is short and sweet.

Logan will be in for a culture shock but he will be fine - he will love being an older brother. The time gap between isn't important it is the love and laughter they will share.

Congratulations and I wish you many happy months of "infanticipating" this cherished family event.

Love and hugs,
LINDA.
