I love Easter

What do I love about Easter?
Where do i start, the chocolate, the chocolate or the chocolate? Hmmm dilemma!

While I decide we can chat about the Bunny.
He has so many good memories for me, like the time I disgusted my children by arriving at Primary School in full Bunny Suit. Little did they know I had to borrow 3 pillows from a friend to pad it out and then scale a 1.3m high fence with my, now reduced to, 30cm legs, Hopping over it was not an option as I would have spilled my overflowing basket of eggs, I really don't know how the dude does it, but there must be another way to transport 200 odd eggs!

After leaving that school I then had repeat performances at a pre school and a Day Care group where I was much better received and didn't stumble over any playground equipment (may have dented my credibility at prior engagement). Of course none of those children recognised that I was a mother in a Bunny suit, oh the very young are precious and gullible. But the piano incident with baby powder, argh another day perhaps!

And we get back to chocolate! There are few traditions and rules but these must be adhered to:

  • I eat the chocolate rabbit ears first.
  • Mum must have a rabbit or it just isn't Easter
  • Hiding eggs outside is dangerous as creatures eat them unless you keep guard all night , in which case they are gone anyway, yummo
  • Rocher Chocolates are always welcome
  • Giving chocolates to friends, family, and especially children is essential
  • Grandson must not be over dosed on chocolate (he is 4 hours drive away, like I care!)
France being France, while there are abundant and adorable chocolate animals to give and to devour, there are also more refined delights like impossibly delicate real egg shells filled with rich chocolate, tiny candy eggs resplendent in spun-praline ‘nests’, or chocolate eggs filled with luscious hazelnut or pistachio creams.
So I want to go to France for Easter!

There are many symbols for Easter so I will start now and may have finished them by the time The Bunny hops my way.

The Easter Lily

This flower; which is also an Easter symbol, is a Japanese flower. The lily is the symbol of the arrival of the Spring, purity and holiness. This flower is known for its beauty and its pride.

A legend says that at the time Jesus went to a place, all the flowers, plants and animals bowed to his passage, except the lilies: they were too proud.

But when the lilies saw Jesus on the cross, their head bent and since that day, they continue to bend their head as a sign of respect.

Nice legend, isn't it?

 I think of the garden after the rain;
And hope to my heart comes singing,
At morn the cherry-blooms will be white,
And the Easter bells be ringing!  ~Edna Dean Proctor, "Easter Bells"
