 What has happened in those 70 weeks?

It became against the law in Adelaide to lend your car for weddings

Facebook reached over 500 million users

Avatar and the King's Speech hit the cinemas

Ben Quilty won the Archibald prize for "Margaret Olley"

Americain won the Melbourne Cup

and

the world experienced wicked weather

but above all

Linda was with us to experience it all

For that I am forever grateful,

My life is so much richer with her in it.

I hope the donor's family have gone beyond counting the weeks 

but may they know that we care and hold them close.

Bumper Stickers

Well, I am known for "off the straight and narrow ", "quirky" or simply have too much time on my hands 

but these amuse, fascinate and sometimes, 

although not often,offend .

If you are expecting any profanity, language or similar content then

A bumper sticker is an adhesive label or sticker with a message,

intended to be attached to the bumper of an automobile 

and to be read by the occupants of other vehicles

It brought joy to me and made me realize that something that I enjoy is often enjoyed by other people too.  I look forward each day to sharing my life with you and I am finally realizing that there are those out there who look forward to my postings.

Twins

I am going to be the 

Grandmother of Identical Twins!

When asked about multiple birth possibility, my dear daughter emphatically said

"No! That's not how they do IVF now, one egg, one embryo, one baby.

If you want a multiple birth it would require 2 implanted"

Hah!
With IVF there are nearly 21 pairs of twins for every 1,000
(7 times the average)

Needless to say she is still sitting on the floor at home 

contemplating and coming to grips with this 

little twist or 2

Anzac Day 2011

To my friends who served in Vietnam

My children friends who are (as far as we know) 

still in the SAS

Saving our country

and others

and laying down their lives for us

The War to End All Wars never eventuated, 

May we find the one that will very soon

To all who are serving still and maintaining the equipment for those that are,

my gratitude to you all and although thank you is inadequate,

To all the families out there who are mourning, grieving and missing loved ones

I think of you and know some of what you are feeling.

ANZAC DAY Lest we forget

 

ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity. On ANZAC day, ceremonies are held in towns and cities across the nation to acknowledge the service of our veterans

In military tradition, the Last Post is the bugle call that signifies the end of the day's activities. It is also sounded at military funerals to indicate that the soldier has gone to his final rest and at commemorative services such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.
