RU OK?
It’s a national day of
action which aims to prevent suicide by encouraging Australians to
connect with someone they care about and help stop little problems
turning into big ones.
On that day we want everyone across the country, from all backgrounds
and walks of life, to ask family, friends and colleagues: "Are you
OK?".
Staying connected with others is crucial to our general health and
wellbeing. Feeling isolated or hopeless can contribute to depression and
other mental illnesses, which can ultimately result in suicide.
Regular, meaningful conversations can protect those we know and love.
It's so simple. In the time it takes to have a coffee, you can start a conversation that could change a life.
Everybody feels sad or 'down' from time to
time. It is a normal reaction to unpleasant or upsetting events. Usually
within a few days or a couple of weeks, we start to feel better and our
mood returns to normal.
Clinical depression is different. People experiencing clinical depression have lost the ability to function as they normally would in their home life or at work. They often find that strategies they normally use to lift their mood don’t work. This loss of energy and low mood makes it hard to cope with day-to-day life and can also put pressure on relationships.

They often find that strategies they normally use to lift their mood don’t work. This loss of energy and low mood makes it hard to cope with day-to-day life and can also put pressure on relationships.
Clinical depression is a serious illness and will often require professional help from a doctor.
Depression is one of the most common mental
illnesses experienced by Australians and research tells us that one in
five Australians will experience depression in their lifetime. Moreover,
4 per cent of us will experience a major depressive illness in a
12-month period.
Clinical depression is nothing to be ashamed
of and it is always worthwhile to ask for help if you think you might
have clinical depression.
I may not see you in person but I am asking RUOK?
I am some days and not others, but this is all about you
Some links to help, please have a look at your leisure, you just may find out how many of you are out there! You are not alone, there are lots of us.
Just a few of them. there is help out there, so hug someone and ask someone RUOK
The Flannel Flower, an Australian native, is a national symbol to promote awareness of mental health.
Flannel flower is commonly found growing wild in the Australian bush,
which has a wonderful inherent beauty and strength and is known for its
extremes of weather and landscape.
To survive the extremes of Australia's climate the Flannel Flower has
had to be adaptable, in the same way all of us, regardless of our life
circumstances, need to develop resilience and the ability to adapt to
change, in order to strengthen and maintain our mental health.
The Flannel Flower, with its soft silky texture, encourages contact
and is thought to help people express their feelings verbally and to
develop sensitivity.
Being open and empathetic to a person's expression of distress can
help not only the recovery of a person experiencing mental illness, but
to change the negative attitudes of our society to mental illness.

What is Love?
Love is patient, love is kind. It has no envy, nor it boasts itself and it is never proud.
Love protects; preserves and hopes for the positive aspect of life. Always stand steadfast in love, not fall into it. It is like the dream of your matter of affection coming true. Love can occur between two or more individuals. It bonds them and connects them in a unified link of trust, intimacy and interdependence. It enhances the relationship and comforts the soul. Love should be experienced and not just felt. The depth of love can not be measured. Look at the relationship between a mother and a child. The mother loves the child unconditionally and it can not be measured at all. A different dimension can be attained between any relationships with the magic of love.
Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.
William Shakespeare.
William Shakespeare.
Have you told someone that you love them recently and not just assumed they know?

What has happened in those 70 weeks?
It became against the law in Adelaide to lend your car for weddings
Facebook reached over 500 million users
Avatar and the King's Speech hit the cinemas
Ben Quilty won the Archibald prize for "Margaret Olley"
Americain won the Melbourne Cup
and
the world experienced wicked weather
but above all
Linda was with us to experience it all
For that I am forever grateful,
My life is so much richer with her in it.
I hope the donor's family have gone beyond counting the weeks
but may they know that we care and hold them close.

ANZAC DAY Lest we forget
ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity. On ANZAC day, ceremonies are held in towns and cities across the nation to acknowledge the service of our veterans
In military tradition, the Last Post is the bugle call that signifies the end of the day's activities. It is also sounded at military funerals to indicate that the soldier has gone to his final rest and at commemorative services such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.

Sisters
I have no living sister in this world, Gail was gone before I had the honour of meeting her.
I do know she had red hair, which makes a blonde brother, a red head and me a brunette, very colourful and all unique people
I have found some wonderful unique friends and know that Gail is watching us and is contributing always
I treasure my on line sisters every day.
Just like these, we still rehearse but we get there in the end!
Enjoy the song and know I am singing it with you including the lalalalal la
These sisters are always there for the fun, frivolity, support, caring and anything else that is needed whenever it is needed.
They come from far across our lovely country and time makes someone available always
I can read their blogs and Facebook pages and keep up with their shenanigans, medical issues and miracles, gripes about anything that happens in their days and most of all the good times and the joy.
It has become a place to share all, no judgments passed, just the joy of unique people being people and living their lives
We share photos, stories, humour, love, laughter and tragedy
I wish them all the luck, joy and miracles in their worlds.
A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.
-- Isadora James
An older sister is a friend and defender - a listener, conspirator, a counselor and a sharer of delights. And sorrows too.
-- Pam Brown
I smile because you are my sister, I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it!
-- Author Unknown
Sisters are different flowers from the same garden.

Thursday is a day for a friend
My thoughts and wishes go to all my friends but today one , in particular.
a lady through and through always who is having a procedure done today in hospital
For those who know her, I need not mention her name, for those who don’t look for a shining light from a lovely lady and that is most probably her!
Take the time to say Hi and you will be very well rewarded
Just some of many other things I have learnt from this lovely lady is to smile at a stranger, be good and kind to myself and others and to treat our world and its inhabitants with respect.
Life isn’t always fair, but we must continue and learn and grow from the hardships and heartaches no matter how hard at the time. Treasure your friends and help them when they stumble, dust them off and support them, as a true friend is a gift indeed
I have learnt even more about the importance of organ donation, as this friend is a testament to how one person’s tragic loss can become a true gift. I thank all donors every day of my life and know that this family members gift of life is treasured in a wonderful person.
Please visit the link below to see what a difference you can make to lives
Register to become a Donor and discuss with your family now, not later, tell them your wishes and I hope you do agree to share the gift of life whether it be organ and/or tissue.
I have also found out many fascinating, and humorous, things but the gift of sharing has been the catalyst in learning these, so share your knowledge and experiences as someone like me may not know of it. A prime example is Stevens Johnson Syndrome/Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis:
Never heard of it? Either had I!
“Almost any DRUG can cause SJS/TEN, including over the counter drugs. SJS & TEN do not discriminate against anyone! Everyone should be aware of allergic drug reactions.”

Thank you to an amazing lady who I am now off to visit spiritually and support her through today, please feel free to join me
